Youth Fight for Jobs demonstrates in Barking (London) and Manchester

Call for jobs and homes not racism put forward by unemployed and trade union youth

Youth Fight for Jobs are demonstrating in Barking, starting in Mayesbrook Park (Nearest tube Upney) at 12 noon, and central Manchester, 12 noon, All Saints Park, Oxford Road.

This demonstration is in support of recent workers struggle at the job centres and other PCS organised workplaces, and against the divisive, racist politics of the BNP.

Sean Figg, Youth Fight for Jobs national organiser, said "Young people have seen our generation left high and dry, with a huge loss of jobs, and access to education being decimated.

It's in this situation that the vile, racist politics of the British National Party (BNP) thrive."

"But we've also seen this week how the problems confronting our generation could be solved. The industrial action of the PCS, ultimately about defending jobs, and further action called by the RMT and the BA cabin crew shows how workers and young people can defend ourselves.

Those in Parliament offer no solution to this economic crisis, and want our generation to pay the price for the bosses crisis.

It's only through organising ourselves, through the trade union movement and through campaigns like youth fight for jobs, that we can fight back."

Youth Fight for Jobs was launched at the start of the recession to combat the growing effects of youth unemployment.

It has the backing of three national unions, the PCS, RMT and CWU, as well as many other trade union and student bodies.
