Roger Bannister an official candidate

Roger Banister, with 30 branches nominating him from all over the country, is now an official candidate for general secretary of UNISON.

The ballot begins on January 25 and runs until February 28.

Roger would like to thank all those branches that nominated him.

Roger promises to run a campaign that puts squarely to the members the following question:

Do you want to continue with a union leadership that is far too close to the Labour government?

Or do you want:

  • A general secretary on a workers wage
  • A general secretary who will fight against the policies of new Labour
  • A general secretary who opposes the attacks on our members’ pensions in local government, the NHS, and the whole public sector

Roger Banister will fight to reverse those policies of the leadership that have led to the Agenda For Change in the NHS cutting members wages.

He will fight to reverse single status deals in local councils, which are also leading to wage cuts across the board.

Unlike the leadership of UNISON Roger Banister will give the membership a real choice:

  • Do you want UNISON to continue to finance the Labour party, whose councillors and MPs continue to attack our members?
  • Or should we instead build a campaign, across the unions, to create a new mass workers party?

If you want to support Rogers’s campaign, email us and we will send you leaflets and posters to distribute amongst your members.
