Millennials across the globe are more discontented and more disillusioned with how democracy works than any generation in living memory. Confidence is lowest, and discontent highest, in ‘Anglo-Saxon’ countries like Britain and the US, fuelled by growing income inequality.

The data comes from a Cambridge Centre for the Future of Democracy report based on 4.8 million respondents collected across 160 countries between 1973 and 2020.
