2021 has started with a bang, with teachers and school support staff in the National Education Union and Unison forcing Boris Johnson’s Tory government to retreat on the reopening of schools. The Tories have also had to U-turn over their proposed review of employment laws and regulations post-Brexit.

Unions now need to come together immediately to draw on this template to fight for workplace safety in all sectors, and to stop the offensive by the Tories and the bosses to make workers pay for the Covid crisis with our lives and livelihoods. This includes Johnson’s public sector pay freeze.

We’ve also seen workers in British Gas striking, the latest to confront vicious bosses’ ‘fire and rehire’ measures. Many other workers are taking action as well.

The NSSN will continue to play our part in this struggle. Come to our meeting to discuss how we can build the fight for our lives and livelihoods. We will be hearing from workers and union reps involved in the increasing number of disputes.
