We are urging all our members and supporters to donate and pledge to the Socialism 2020 appeal.
Keir Starmer's attack on Corbyn, and the Tories being forced into another humiliating U-turn over Covid, underlines the crucial need to get across socialist ideas in the workplaces, local communities, trade unions, universities, and in the protest movements that will develop in the coming period.
2020 has seen a dramatic change in the world situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic and new economic crisis. People around the world are angry at the attacks they are facing, and have responded with mass protests, from the anti-SARS protests in Nigeria, to the demonstrations in Poland against the attacks on abortion rights.
In Britain, the Tories have been forced into many U-turns as a result of protests and public anger. Socialist Party members have participated in these struggles, putting forward a socialist programme to help develop them into effective mass movements.
We are facing some new restrictions on our campaigning work, but the best possible answer to that is making sure the Socialism 2020 fighting fund appeal is the biggest possible. Make sure we have the resources to produce the leaflets, posters and placards that will get our socialist message out to as many people as possible when the anger beneath the surface erupts into new struggles of the working class and young people.
What can you do to help us have the best possible fighting fund appeal at Socialism 2020? Have you pledged or made a donation? Who can you ask to make a donation?
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference, and all of it will go to building support for socialist ideas.
The coronavirus crisis has laid bare the class character of society in numerous ways. It is making clear to many that it is the working class that keeps society running, not the CEOs of major corporations.
The results of austerity have been graphically demonstrated as public services strain to cope with the crisis.
The government has now ripped up its 'austerity' mantra and turned to policies that not long ago were denounced as socialist. But after the corona crisis, it will try to make the working class pay for it, by trying to claw back what has been given.
Inevitably, during the crisis we have not been able to sell the Socialist and raise funds in the ways we normally would.
We therefore urgently appeal to all our viewers to click here to donate to our Fighting Fund.
