Library cuts: working class kids suffer most
Walsall council, in one of the poorest areas of the west Midlands, is closing 15 of its 16 libraries. Sadly, this is just one of many examples of ruthless cuts which will deny young people a future.

Councils and unions must combat the cuts: Over the past six years, the number of care homes has fallen by 1,500 to 16,600. Home care providers are not renewing council contracts. The number of elderly people receiving social care from their local council declined by a staggering 26% between 2010 and 2015.

Health campaigns demonstrate together in 'one fight'
The sense of solidarity and unity was electric, with over 300 of us marching together. This was on a midweek protest organised by local activists. The campaign to save Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, took its case to Westminster, alongside groups from Chorley, Grantham, St Heliers and Lewisham, and many others.

Over 7,000 people turned out for the 'Hands Off HRI' (Huddersfield Royal Infirmary) fun day and festival. It was impossible to take in the whole event as it took up the entire park.

Hands Off HRI campaign grows from strength to strength
It's almost six months since the local Clinical Commissioning Group announced it was intending to close Huddersfield A&E. Over 100,000 people have signed petitions demanding the CCG reverse its decision, and there have been countless rallies and protests all over the town.
